At Lougheed Animal Hospital, we offer dematting services under sedation when necessary for the pet’s safety and comfort. This service is suited for cats whose mats cannot be removed with routine grooming. Our goal is to relieve discomfort while preserving as much of the healthy coat as possible.
For cats that are extremely matted or uncooperative with regular grooming, Lougheed Animal Hospital offers lion shave cuts under sedation. This style removes the majority of the fur while leaving some around the face, feet, and tail. It’s typically chosen for comfort or hygiene, especially in long-haired breeds. Sedation is used only when required to reduce stress or prevent injury to the pet and staff.
Some pets may not tolerate nail trims due to fear, pain, or behavioral challenges. At Lougheed Animal Hospital, sedated nail trims are offered when regular handling is not feasible.
